FC Thun Vs Stoke

A good 1-0 result away from home in europe, should have been 2 in the dying minutes when Walters was put through but the defender in there goal covered the angle well. All in all a good result

What an amazing last few days for England's cricket team, declaring on 710-7, and a 1st innings lead of 486. Then they bowled India out 244 in the second innings giving England a winning margin of an innings and 242 runs. And now ranked number 1 in the world. Cracking result

Stoke Vs Chelsea Preview

Posted by Dave Tittensor, Published: 12-Aug-2011
After a quite summer with only the antics of the English cricket team to keep me company, and what a summer they are having! This coming weekend sees the start of the English Premier League season. All but 1 game is going a head, the only postponement is the Spurs Everton match due to the recent trouble in the capital. Its a shame to see but the safety of everyone is the priority here.

Going back to the subject, the mighty potters host Chelsea, a game if going by last season should be a close affair. Chelsea have a new manager so all attention will be on The Britannia Stadium this coming Sunday to see if he can indeed deliver what appears to be a promising potential as a manager. I'm personally hoping that we get something out the game and will happily now take a draw, come 3:30pm Sunday. I may feel differently then, but for now that is how I currently feel.

Regarding the team to face Chelsea, I've heard that Jermaine Pennant is doubtful so the probably starting 11 will be: Begovic, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson, Delap, Whitehead, Whelan, Etherington, Jones, Walters. Tony Pulis may well however still spring a surprise, time will indeed tell.

The dreaded 5K in under 30 minutes

Posted by Dave Tittensor, Published: 11-Aug-2011
Just recently I started running again after the Nike+GPS app was on offer has being free on iTunes. So thought I'd give it a go, so some 8 weeks on or so I've ran a total of 81.8miles after 24 runs and burnt of nearly 12000 cals in the process. I'm hoping that effort has enabled me to lose the odd pound or two in weight.

It took me to my 21st run last Friday to actually beat the 30 minute barrier for the 5k, and since doing so I've managed to repeat that fate twice since.

I'm still far from convinced that the exercise is good for you, but until I find a 5/6 aside team to play for it can't be that bad for me.

Long may this running continue over the course of the year, hopefully in another 2 months time I'll have hit 160 miles over 4 months and hope to go on from there. I may have actually managed a 10k by that point in an hour, who knows, anything is possible. I suppose it doesn't help being a fair weather runner, if it's raining or icy then I won't venture out of the house :)
